# Team Settings

Update team-level Signal preferences.

## Request parameters

| `use_builtin_categories` | boolean | No       | When `false`, scoring uses only the team's [custom categories](/detect/signal/custom-categories). Defaults to `true`. |

Turning off the built-in categories takes effect on the next submission. If the team has no custom categories in the `ready` state, scoring has nothing to match against — keep at least one ready custom category before disabling the built-ins.
